Auto Periferia, s.a. was founded in 1960 and it is a local company, primarily dedicated to regular passenger transportation.
During its history, Auto Periferia has gone through two different stages, the second one starting in August 1986 (more than 25 years ago) when the company was acquired by its current owners, giving it a boost towards a profound restructuring with the objective of improving the quality of the service.
The policy followed by Auto Periferia can be synthetized in three points:
First.- The extension of its fleet, from 12 buses in 1986 with an average age of 15 years, to the current 80 buses with an average age of 3 years, all of them equipped with the elevator platform for handicapped people.
Second.- The restructuring of its lines, expanding from two (in 1986) to the current 16. This change has provoked a change and adjustment of timetables, reducing significantly the frequency of the buses.
Third.- The enlargement of the staff, that in this 25 years has augmented from 22 to 240 employees, of which approximately 88% have a permanent contract.
The award of MADRID - LAS ROZAS - VILLANUEVA DE LA CAÑADA - QUIJORNA (VCM-602), held by Auto Periferia, S.A., is composed of 16 lines, covering the passenger transportation of the towns of Las Rozas, Las Matas, Majadahonda, Villanueva de la Cañada, Villanueva del Pardillo, Brunete and Quijorna.
Recently, obeying the Plan for the Modernization of the Public Regular Passenger Trasportation of general use in roads and according to the approval by the Madrid Regional Transport Consortium, Autoperiferia, S.A. added in 2010 seventeen new units to the existing fleet, acquiring the compromise to renew its vehicles as well as the implantation of the SAE (Exploitation Help System).
It also provided all of its units with a GPS localization system, video surveillance cameras and audiovisual information systems in bus stops and inside the buses.
Also, consistent with the Plan for Modernization of Autoperiferia, s.a., the company is currently certified in the standardsISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and UNE-EN 13816:2003, pledging its commitment thus in the continuous improvement of service in order to provide good customer satisfaction, as well as acquiring the commitment for sustainable development.
